Feeling very festive this December at The George - lovely surroundings inside and outside. We had coffee and mince pies each - coffee was very average but mince pie was very tasty! It was about 15 though - pretty steep. Free coffee refills were available if you would like more. Overall comfy, cosy and convenient so its worth a visit for coffee and cake. Service was attentive and efficient - staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived.
Good food. Good service. Warm reception. The oak room looked amazing. They have outdone themselves with the Christmas decorations. An amazing place to go for a special event
Had dinner in the beautiful garden room and everything from the staff to the food was outstanding! A special mention for Sarah who picked up it was my dad's birthday and surprised him with a cake. Fantastic to see someone so attentive to their customers in an age where customer service is poor. I honestly cannot fault any of my visit.
If I could give six stars I would. All the staff from the reception desk to the waiters in the restaurant are very efficient, very professional but still have time to be friendly and smile and have a conversation with you. The management should be very proud of their staff. The food we have had in both restaurants is on the whole excellent and is worth visiting even if you are not staying at the hotel. The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The open fire in the main lounge makes for a very pleasant afternoon tea and the Christmas decorations are festive overload. Expensive but worth every penny!
Wonderful old coaching inn. Superb comfortable decor. Roaring log fire on cold evenings is so endearing. Lots of very helpful staff. Food very good quality - but a budget needed. Events abound.
